WHO WE ARE The West Metro Schools Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative,
open to employees and students of Hopkins and Edina schools districts, along
with their families and household members. We offer a variety of personal banking services
to our members, the owners of our credit union. We value people as
individuals, not just account numbers. Our top priority is to give the
best services available to our members.
CREDIT UNIONS VERSUS BANKS Credit
Unions are the only democratically controlled financial institutions in the
United States. Members elect a volunteer Board of Directors to oversee
the credit union. The president reports to this board. Earnings
are returned to the members as lower loan rates, higher savings rates and
free or low-cost services. Bank are for-profit organizations that
return profits to stockholders; customers have no ownership or vote. We invite you to find out for yourself the credit union difference.
